Meet the crew
Captain Joe Macfarlane
Captain Joe Macfarlane has been fishing the Gulf of Mexico since he was old enough to hold a rod. When he was 5 years old his parents moved to Florida. His father was a well known local captain who taught little Joe how to fish. As he grew up the bug caught on and he began to enjoy the offshore fishing. At 16 he earned a job working as a fishing charter mate and gained a vast knowledge of fishing in the Gulf. At 18 he received his Deck Officer's license and began On A Claim Charters. After fishing on a 29 foot Phoenix for three years, he purchased the new Sabalo in November of 2005. Since the conception of the Pura Vida, charters have been able to run past the competitor and fish farther and with more comfort. Book your trip today and experience a young captain that is full of life!
A message from Captain Joe
Hello,
Thanks for taking to time to learn more about me as your guide to the Gulf of Mexico's offshore fishing. I personally guarantee that your trip will be a memorable experience. I take pride in every group I take into the Gulf and am always open to suggestions and comments to make your trip the most successful for you. My goal is to teach you more about fishing and have some FUN doing it.
May your lines always be tight,

First Mate Greg Macfarlane
Greg Macfarlane grew up next to his older brother Capt. Joe and father Capt. Joe Sr. Since the conception of On A Claim Charters, Greg has worked side by side as Capt. Joe's most knowledgeable mate. Greg has a vast knowledge of the Gulf of Mexico and the inshore waters of the inter coastal. He has practiced the know-how of a charter fishing mate for the last three years working with Capt. Joe. Greg is currently in training to soon have a Sabalo of his own.
